Uber’s nationwide recruitment drive intends to hire 20K new drivers as the need for rides keeps going up throughout the country.
According to the general manager for Ireland &n UK, Ash Kebriti, The United Kingdom opened up recently and the need for Uber rides has increased. This means that Uber needs additional drivers on UK roads.
“In Leicester, we’ve seen a 30 per cent increase in demand since before the lockdown as people go back to work, restaurants and bars. There’s not been a better time to sign up, especially as we’re the only operator to provide all drivers with holiday pay and, where eligible, enrolment in a pension scheme,” says Ash Kebriti, general manager for Ireland and the UK.
Further, he added that riding with Uber means accessing the top industry worker protections. This includes an extra 20- percent of the earnings in a pension & holiday pay.
Drivers of Uber also get parental leave payments, injury cover, sickness & occupational accident insurance. Each driver of Uber in the United Kingdom is entitled to be represented by the GMB.
The drivers will also become IPSE members. IPSE is the largest organisation that represents the interests of the self-employed community.
The cover for injury & sickness will be up to £2,000 in case he can’t drive for two or more weeks.
The company also stated that the rights are available only on Uber. They’re not available on any ride-sharing app and this is why many drivers are making money on the platform.
